The Ultimate Fit Guide: Daytona Helmets & First Manufacturing Co.

Getting the right fit isn't just about comfort—it’s about safety. A helmet that slides or a jacket that bunches can distract you from the road. If you're looking for that low-profile Daytona look or the rugged utility of First Manufacturing, here is exactly how to size yourself for a perfect fit the first time.

Part 1: Daytona Helmets – "The No-Mushroom Look"

Daytona is famous for the smallest DOT shells in the world. But because they are so low-profile, the fit is more precise than a standard "bulkier" helmet.

How to measure:

Use a soft tape measure about 1 inch above your eyebrows and above your ears.

The "Daytona Pro-Tip":

Between Sizes? Go Small. Daytona’s "Slim Line" (Skull Cap, Hawk, and Cruiser) liners are designed to "break in" and mold to your head. If you are between a Medium and Large, we recommend the Medium for that snug, no-lift fit

Once buckled, you should not be able to slide two fingers between your temple and the helmet. If you can, the wind will grab it at 65 mph.

Daytona Size Quick-Reference:

Size Inches Metric (cm)
Small 19 1/8" – 20" 48.6 – 50.8
Medium 20 1/8" – 21" 51.1 – 53.3
Large 21 1/8" – 22" 53.7 – 55.9
X-Large 22 1/8" – 23" 56.2 – 58.4

Part 2: First Manufacturing Co. – Jackets & Vests

FMC gear is built with "Generous American Cuts," but because they use heavy 1.2mm naked cowhide, the way it drapes matters.

1. The "Top Performer" & Club Jackets

Most First Mfg jackets like the Top Performer or Raider run true to size, but they are an "athletic" cut.

The Layering Rule: If you plan on wearing a heavy hoodie under your leather, size up one.

The Sleeve Check: When standing, the sleeves should hit your knuckles. This ensures that when you reach for your bars, the cuffs sit perfectly at your wrists.

2. The "Sharpshooter" & Club Vests

Vests are the trickiest to size because of what goes under them.

Over a Tee: Order your standard shirt size.

Over a Jacket: If you’re rocking the "Club Style" (vest over a leather jacket), you must size up two full sizes from your shirt size.

3. The "Action Back" Advantage

FMC includes an "Action Back" (stretch panels behind the shoulders) on most models. This means you can afford a snugger fit in the chest without losing mobility in your arms.
